Halifax, NS – KBRS is pleased to have assisted the selection committee in the appointment of Christina Schindler as the next Head of Prep School at Halifax Grammar School, effective August 12, 2019.
Christina Schindler joins Halifax Grammar from Trafalgar Castle School in Whitby, Ontario, where she has worked as an educator, administrator, and curriculum leader for the past 14 years. She brings a wealth of experience to the role of Head of Prep School, having held several leadership positions at Trafalgar, serving as Director of Research, Teaching and Learning; Experiential Learning Program Coordinator; Department Lead Teacher; and most recently, Director of Lower School. Throughout her career, Christina has exuded a passion for promoting excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, and proudly supports the professional growth and development of her fellow educators.
Halifax Grammar School, founded in 1958 with an ambitious commitment to achieve excellence, is a CAIS and independent International Baccalaureate® World School, welcoming more than 500 children from Junior Primary through Grade Twelve to its passionate learning environment. The Prep School at Halifax Grammar School encompasses students from Junior Primary through Grade Four and offers a compelling space where children are embraced and challenged by a talented faculty to explore, discover, and learn.
As Head of Prep School and a member of the School Management Team, Schindler will oversee all aspects of daily Prep School operations and provide accountable and responsive leadership to faculty and students, while shaping a strong sense of Prep School community at Halifax Grammar School. As the academic leader of this formative division, she will develop authentic, lasting relationships with community members while providing voice for the School’s vision, values, and mission.

Christina holds both a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Arts from McMaster University as well as a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto (OISE). Christina completed the Principal’s Qualification Program at York University, Junior Qualification at Queen’s University, and is a participant in the CAIS Leadership Institute. Christina has been an invited speaker at educational forums across the country including the CAIS National Leaders Conference as well as Integrative Thinking for Educators Conference at the Rotman School of Management.
