A fast-growing company known world-wide, Nautical Seafoods is an exporter of live lobsters and fresh scallops. Nautical Seafoods Ltd. was established in 2009 when Shawn Everett, President and Owner, returned home after fishing in Newfoundland for 20 years. Nautical Seafoods Ltd. is building strong relationships with local fisherman. The Company is located in Parker’s Cove, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. Their facility sits next to the rich cold waters of the Bay of Fundy, home to hard shell lobster and high-quality scallops. Geographically, they are located near three lobster fishing districts which allows them to buy product ten months of the year and for them to have product year-round. In 2015, Nautical Seafoods Ltd. began shipping live products overseas for the first time. In a short period of time they have grown their export business and established themselves as a reliable, high quality exporter.
Nautical Seafoods is looking to hire a Vice President, Operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Operations will ensure optimization of operations, effectiveness and efficiency. A key member of the senior leadership team, you will provide management direction across the operation and will help develop and maintain an organizational structure that effectively responds to business needs and is optimally aligned to achieve strategic objectives. A hands-on leader, you will be responsible for developing and guiding the operations team to ensure that production and organizational goals are consistently achieved and that best practices are maintained in the areas of quality, food safety, process compliance, health and safety standards, operations, and maintenance. Responsible for daily production output, you will monitor and control seafood inventory while ensuring product quality is upheld. Providing leadership support and frequently coordinating with sales and procurement departments, you will ensure that the right structure, people, and functional capabilities are in place to achieve strategic plans.
As the ideal candidate, you have demonstrated operational experience within a manufacturing or processing facility at the mid to senior leadership level, ideally in the food industry. You have a successful track record of identifying and driving value in an organization, as well as a reputation for being a trusted business advisor who fosters strategic organizational growth and development. You have natural interpersonal and communication skills and can build seamless working relationships with leaders and teams across an organization. You have extensive experience in a complex operational environment and are able to manage budgets and resource allocation, identify inefficiencies, and ensure operations are consistently cost effective. Accountable and leading by example, you are results oriented with the ability to prioritize and deliver on key initiatives. With excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills you are known as a candid team player who is open-minded in your approach. Safety and quality are of the utmost importance to you and you are a strong, ethical, respectful leader with a track record of experience at both the strategic and tactical levels.
