The Faculty of Nursing at UNB aims to advance nursing and nursing knowledge through excellence in teaching, research, clinical practice, leadership and innovation. Offering two- and four- year Bachelor of Nursing Programs across the Faculty’s two locations (Fredericton and Moncton), as well as graduate Master of Nursing degrees, and joint programs with Humber College in Ontario, UNB Nursing is a place where tradition and innovation have teamed up to provide students the highest quality university experience.
Reporting to the Vice-President Academic (Fredericton), the Dean of Nursing is the chief executive officer and public face of the Faculty of Nursing, responsible for the overall management of the Faculty of Nursing. Expected to guide a strategic vision for and provide academic and administrative leadership of the Faculty, the Dean contributes to the further development of teaching, research, and clinical practice within the Faculty, the University and the nursing profession more broadly. In addition, the Dean fosters a culture of collegiality, interdisciplinarity and student-centered learning by mentoring and providing advice, and research and teaching support, to faculty. Together with building strong relationships internally at the University, the Dean also builds and maintains strong partnerships externally with academic institutions, the healthcare sector, government, community and alumni to advance the success of the Faculty and inspire faculty, students, staff, and other stakeholders toward the achievement of common goals.
As the ideal candidate for the Dean of Nursing, you bring a proven track record as a leader, nurse researcher and educator. Your background includes successful administrative leadership experience in progressively more senior roles in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations. You understand the evolving trends in both nursing practice and education, and demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, research and the advancement of the profession. With an open and collaborative leadership style, you bring enthusiasm, confidence and the keen ability to collaborate and build strong relationships. You are a Registered Nurse or are eligible for licencing in the province of New Brunswick. A PhD in nursing or a related discipline is preferred.
